2010 Australasian Safari Blog - More Travel and Hillarys Bivouac
Well after our delayed start to the trip we finally made it close to where we should have to keep on schedule, about 100 km's short of the Belladonia roadhouse on the Nullabore. Up early (not real fun with the ice on the swag and all) and looking for an easy run to Perth we were ticking long allright until we reached Cunderdin where we had a little unscheduled stop to replace a few "U" bolts on the trailer that had decided to have a rest on the highway somewhere. Luckily, having experienced the odd trailer break down over the years, we had the parts on board to get it going again and were soon on our way again, pulling into the bivouac near Hillarys Boata Harbour at around 6pm and meating up with some of the other crews for dinner and a relaxing drink after 3 days in the truck.
Today (Thursday) we finished off the details on the 700XX, fitting the Safari decals and aslo the custom graphics that Smitty had made for the event and just generally getting the big girl ready for scrutineering. There is still a little tinkering to do tomorrow and then it is time to get ready for the Safari Show and the Ceremonial start tomorrow arvo.
